The evening’s special guest was Jessica Phan a student at Pomona College who was the Most Valuable Scholarship winner from 2015 while a student at Northwood High School in Irvine. It was extra special to have two Northwood counselors, Jessica Calbreath and Kathy Smith, as well as principal of Northwood, Dr. Leslie Roach, in attendance at the event.

This year, $18,500 in scholarship awards were given out. When you add in the district and state awards by our six Most Valuable Student applicants, the subtotal is $28,300.

Two of our Most Valuable Student honorees are involved in the national judging. This will add a minimum of $4,000 each to their scholarships. We wish Erica Shin and Harrison Ku much success in the national judging process.

Since first established in 1902, the Santa Ana Elks Lodge #794 has followed in the Elk traditions of giving back to their community by recognizing local scholars, helping children with special needs, and supporting veterans through youth and community activities.
